This image taken by an onboard monitoring camera of the ESAs Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (Juice) on August 19, 2024 and released by the European Space Agency on August 21, 2024 shows some sign of real colour differences in the large-scale features on the lunar surface, soon after Juice made its closest approach to the Moon. The Juice spacecraft has achieved a world first by performing a close flyby of the Moon and then the Earth to facilitate its journey to Jupiter, the European Space Agency (ESA) announced on August 21, 2024. The manoeuvre saw the probe, launched into space last April, brush past the Moon on August 19, shortly after 2100 GMT before flying over South-East Asia and the Pacific Ocean the following day shortly before 2200 GMT, at an altitude of less than 7,000 km.
