LA NACION S. A., one of Latin America's largest and most prestigious news conglomerate is located in Tibás, some ten minutes north of downtown San José, Costa Rica.
Founded in 1946 for the purpose of publishing the LA NACION daily newspaper, today it sells an average of more that one hundred thousand copies.
In the eighties, LA NACION diversified its production and introduced into the market several magazines in response to the important needs for entertainment, information and analysis that a large number of readers had. At the beginning of the nineties, AL DIA daily newspaper was born.
In 1995 through a joint venture, EL FINANCIERO weekly financial paper
was born.
On April 7, 1995 LA NACION starts its on-line Electronic Edition on the INTERNET at URL: http://www.nacion.co.cr with a mirror server in the U.S.A.
In order to produce such publications with the quality demanded by readers and advertisers, LA NACION has invested heavily to keep its technology updated.
In 1990, IMPRESION COMERCIAL was created with the purpose of producing Periodicals, Magazines, Newspaper Inserts and Suplements, Commercial Printing and Books.
In 1990, a Heidelberg SpeedMaster 102-SP with 6 printing units and tower coater with CPC-01&02 was purchased. In 1992, a Heidelberg GTO-4 VPS with 4 printing units with CPC-01&02 was purchased.

The high growth of exports, enabled IMPRESION COMERCIAL in late 1994 to purchase a six-unit two-web Harris M200 Heat Set Web Press with state-of the-art Quad Tech auto register system, Perreta remote ink controls, ASI Air Turns and Baldwin in-line glueing system.
